Curiously, you won’t find Hjalparfoss in many guides. Only a board aside of road N°1 marks its place. Yet, the site is extraordinary (but which icelandic place isn’t ?).
To get through it, you have to drive a dark sand track, in an almost entirely black scenery You wonder on which planet you are ! On top of a hill, you see Hjalparfoss, a circular pool where two waterfalls join themselves. All around the pool, the walls are made of basalt org, looking like dragon skin. Splendid.
